The board of judges of the Malinovsky District Court of Odesa, chaired by judge Serhiy Cherevka, found Odesa city mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov not guilty of misappropriating the funds of the Odesa city budget.
The verdict began to be read on July 4 and was finally reached only on 9. Reading of almost 400 pages was repeatedly interrupted due to “fake” bomb threats.
The judges also acquitted other officials – the deputy mayor Pavlo Vugelman, the chairman of the Standing Committee on communal property Vasyl Shkriabay, the director of the municipal department of communal property Oleksiy Spector, his deputy Volodymyr Radionov, the director of LLC “Development Elite” Petro Zagodirenko, director of LLC “Valton Group” Ihor Kravchenko and director of the appraisal company “Brokbusinessconsult” Halyna Bohdanova.
The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office requested imprisonment sentences with confiscation of property. The judges made this decision in the meeting room on June 25. As it became known during the reading of the verdict, the judges recognized part of the material evidence as inadmissible, including an assessment by the experts of the cost of the buildings of the Krayan plant. The prosecution was based on this examination when it talked about an overpriced purchase price of buildings.
The court also decided to return the bail and revoke the arrest from the property of the accused.
