During an internal audit conducted in Ukrzaliznytsya, there was found embezzlement and misappropriation of funds by the former head of the industry management centre amounting UAH 7 million. Inspection materials were transferred to the State Bureau of Investigation.
“The investigation revealed that during the purchase of a crushing and sorting complex it was unreasonably overvalued by more than 7 million hryvnias,” the press service of the institution reports.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia found that the company had installed poor quality equipment for a total of UAH 16 million. In particular, according to documents, the equipment should be of Ukrainian production, but in fact, it turned out to be cheaper Chinese analogues.
“The materials of the audit were transferred to the State Bureau of Investigations, where criminal proceedings were opened on the grounds of a criminal offence, stipulated in Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (appropriation, misappropriation or possession of the property by abuse of office, committed in particularly large amounts or by an organized group),” the company added.
