Employees of the military counterintelligence of the Security Service exposed the lieutenant colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine, who has Russian citizenship and tried to join the Joint Forces Operation Zone, where he collected secret information about the combat tasks of the Ukrainian military.
In 2014, a man, supporting the ideology of the so-called “Russian world”, went to the occupied Crimea “in search of a better destiny”, where he received a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation. In addition, he received a driver’s license, registered at the military records and, in a preferential manner, issued a Russian military pension, since in 1995, as part of the RF Armed Forces, he participated in combat operations in Chechnya.
According to the SSU, in 2016 the lieutenant colonel started military service of the Main Directorate of the National Guard with the assistance of the former leadership of the NMU. It is reported that he has received admission to state secrets and initially appealed to the command to send him to the area of the anti-terrorist operation.
“The lieutenant colonel, in violation of the established requirements of the secrecy regime, accumulated a large amount of secret information on the personal flash drives of the NSU units from the forces of the anti-terrorist operation,” the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine said.
The department added that, in order to prevent the leakage and disclosure of information constituting state secrets, the employees of the military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine removed from the illegal circulation the detected carriers of information, the lieutenant colonel was suspended from performing his official duties, and the materials received on him were transferred to the bodies of pre-trial investigation.
