In the near future, the European Union Court may cancel sanctions against former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage. This was reported by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General Larysa Sarhan.
“In the near future, the Court of the European Union may issue its verdict on claims of V. Yanukovych, O. Yanukovych, O. Klymenko, S. Arbuzov, V. Pshonka, A. Pshonka and A. Klyuyev on the abolition of EU sanctions, which were extended by the EU Council during 2016-2018 years,” she wrote.
Mr. Sarhan noted that the parties to the relevant litigation are the former high-ranking officials and the EU Council.
“The decision of the Court of the EU will in no way affect the course of Ukrainian law-enforcement bodies investigations against these persons,” wrote Sarhan.
She also added that the current EU sanctions ahainst 12 former Ukrainian high-ranking officials and their inner circle were extended in March 2019 and will remain in force.
“According to the results of court decisions and their analysis, there will be more detailed information,” summed up Sarhan.
