President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky initiated a bill proposing to extend the application of law on lustration to the president, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, chairmen of the Antimonopoly Committee, the State Property Fund, the State Fiscal Service and other departments that were in office from February 23, 2014 to May 19, 2019.
Zelensky stated this in a video posted on Facebook.
“Every day I am puzzled at what should be done with them (officials – ed.). Can they all be exchanged for our prisoners? Can we dress them in defective body armor, which they bought, and send to the frontline? I think the least that can be done now is to deprive them of all opportunities to participate in the management of the state,” Zelensky said.
He added that his team developed a bill that proposes to extend the law on the purification of power to all top officials, government officials and people’s deputies who held their office from February 23, 2014, till May 19, 2019 – the morning of Zelensky’s inauguration.
