Ambassadors of the G7 countries support the prosecution of those who abuse the authority, however, they reminded that the current situation in Ukraine is different from the one that was after the Revolution of Dignity. This is said in the statement of the Ambassadors of the G7 to Ukraine, published in connection with the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky on the extension of lustration to politicians and top officials of his predecessor, Petro Poroshenko.
“Electoral changes and political rotation are the norm in democratic countries, in contrast to the total ban of all participants in the executive and legislative process of governance,” the diplomats emphasized.
“Since 2014 we have had the opportunity to welcome the progress in reforming a number of important areas. Bringing to justice those responsible for abuse of power is a good step, but according to our belief, the current situation in Ukraine can not be compared to the one that was after the Revolution of Dignity,” was added in the statement.
