President Volodymyr Zelensky has for the first time held telephone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on July 11 by Putin’s spokesman Dmytro Peskov to the Russian edition of TASS.
“The issues of settlement in the south-east of Ukraine and joint work on the return of detainees from both sides were discussed, an agreement was reached on the continuation of this work at the expert level,” Peskov said.
According to Peskov, the initiator of the conversation was the Ukrainian side.
“The key issue was the release of sailors-prisoners of war. It was also about the return of other Ukrainian citizens who are held in the territory of the Russian Federation. In addition, the parties discussed the continuation of negotiations in the Normandy format,” reported in the Office of the President.
