The Office of the President of Ukraine initiates the creation of a Council on Freedom of Speech under the President of Ukraine. According to the press service of the head of state, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko stated this.
“A dialogue with the media community is very important for us, so we are launching the work of the Council. It will meet regularly,” said Tymoshenko.
According to the information, the council will include one representative from each of the central media. It is reported that the Council will help to fix and eliminate threats to freedom of expression and censorship. Among the priorities is the protection of journalists’ rights to work. For this purpose, the Council will have representatives of law enforcement agencies and media consultants.
In addition, it is proposed to create similar councils at each regional administration. They will include representatives of the regional media.
