At the negotiations in Minsk on July 16, the parties agreed on the exchange of prisoners under the scheme “208 for 69”, that is, the Ukrainian party gives up 208 prisoners, the party of militants in the Donbas releases 69. This does not apply to political prisoners and prisoners of war held in Russia and annexed Crimea. This was stated by Roman Bezsmertny.
He noted that the Ukrainian side was ready to start this procedure yesterday and proposed a corresponding number.
“This was supported even by representatives from “LPR” and “DPR”. But this was denied by the Kremlin, representatives of Moscow. Therefore, in the end, it was agreed to carry out a legal clearing procedure,” the representative of Ukraine added.
“It will take some days, or months, anyway this procedure has been launched,” Bezsmertny summed up.
