The first assistant of Volodymyr Zelensky Serhiy Shefir said that the President’s Office of Ukraine hopes to enter a “normal negotiation process” with Russia.
As he told in an interview to the LB.ua, now Zelensky is looking for an opportunity to enter the conversation on equal terms.
“We want to get into a normal negotiation process with Russia. To do this we have to take the first step. Peace must be reached. Any war ends with negotiations. But without loss of territory from our side! Much has already been said about the cessation of firing, the withdrawal of troops, but the main thing – we have to start talking,” Shefir said.
He thinks that Putin thinks about his country and would like to get out of this situation with his head held proudly high.
“Maybe Putin doesn’t need peace with Ukraine. But he probably thinks about his country, and wants to get out of this situation with his head held proudly high,” Zelensky’s first assistant believes.
“I am convinced that we are ready to negotiate. I believe we will make every effort to persuade him, and 70% sure of a successful outcome,” Shefir added.
“We show our steps – we disengaged the forces in Stanytsa Luhanska, we want to build a bridge, to restore the Minsk process. By all our actions we show we are ready for a dialogue. I have inner confidence,” he said.
