President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, he discussed the verdict for Vitaliy Markiv in particular. This was reported by the press office of the president.
The head of state offered the Italian prime minister legal assistance “in conducting a thorough joint examination of the circumstances of the death of Andrea Rocquelli”.
“The president expressed his concern about an unjustified rigid court decision and stressed the importance of the impartial consideration of this case by the Italian Court of Appeal,” the statement reads.
Instead, in a statement of the Italian government on the telephone conversation of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Volodymyr Zelensky, there is no mention of the fact that they discussed the case of Vitaliy Markiv.
“After congratulating with the success at the parliamentary elections last Sunday, Prime Minister Conte confirmed Italy’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine towards the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements. In particular, the President of the Council expressed gratitude to President Zelensky’s statements in favor of a renewed dialogue that could create conditions for resolving the conflict in the eastern regions of Ukraine,” the statement said.
