The Russian company Transneft has paid € 2.3 million partial compensation to Ukrainian Ukrtransafta for transferring contaminated oil to the Druzhba pipeline.
“This allowed us to cover the company’s underfunded income due to a temporary transit halt in April,” the Ukrainian company said in a statement.
At the end of April 2019, when it became known that oil containing high levels of organochlorine had entered the Druzhba pipeline, Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian oil to the European Union. As a result, the Ukrainian company suffered losses. The amount of compensation for these losses is determined by a special supplementary agreement to the current oil transit agreement.
