The condition of resumption of water supply, electricity and renewal of transport connection between the occupied Crimea and the mainland of Ukraine is the de-occupation of the peninsula. Refat Chubarov, the chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, stated.
“It is about the new efforts of the Russian invaders to obtain from the Ukrainian government the provision of Crimea with the Dnipro water, as well as the restoration of the railway connection between the mainland of Ukraine and the temporarily occupied Crimea,” Chubarov said.
“Do not think, even hypothetically, to discuss the topic of possible supply of water, electricity or renewal of railway connection between mainland Ukraine and Crimea beyond the topic of unconditional, complete and immediate de-occupation of Crimea and restoration of state sovereignty of Ukraine over the Crimean Peninsula and the adjacent waters of the Black and Azov seas” the leader of the Crimean Tatars warned.
Supply of the Dnipro water to the Crimean peninsula was terminated on March 2014. In September 2015, the activists organized a blockade of the Crimea, and at the end of the same year, reached a complete end to the supply of electricity to the temporarily occupied peninsula. After that, the cost of keeping Crimea for Russia increased by several billion dollars.
