President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Roman Bezsmertny of his duties as a representative of Ukraine in the working group on political issues of the Tripartite Contact Group on the situation in the Donbas.

“To dismiss Roman Petrovych Bezsmertny from the obligation to represent Ukraine in the working group on political issues of the Tripartite Contact Group,” reads in the text of the decree. The reason for the release is not stated in the document. Roman Bezsmertny himself has not commented on the situation.

Recall that Roman Bezsmertny, from 2014 to 2016, represented Ukraine in the political subgroup of TCG at the negotiations in Minsk on Donbas. On April 28, 2016, he stated that he was leaving the job.

On July 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, by his decree, authorized Roman Bezsmertny to represent Ukraine in the working group on political issues of the Tripartite Contact Group instead of Oleksander Motsyk. Bezsmertny said his work as a negotiator of the Minsk process depends on the position of Volodymyr Zelensky.
