The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation says that 25 thousand Ukrainians living in Donetsk and Luhansk regions have already received Russian citizenship. This was stated by the head of the Main Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Valentina Kazakova.
“To date, residents of the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions have submitted more than 60,000 applications for Russian passports,” the official said.
According to her, more than 25 thousand people have already received citizenship of the Russian Federation.
Kazakova also added that the Interior Ministry of Russia intends to increase the staffing of migration units “because of the influx of those wishing to obtain Russian citizenship.”
