The owner of the Tokyo Star Hotel, where nine people lost their lives, Vadym Chorny was detained. This is stated in a statement by the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Odesa region on Facebook.
“The owner of the hotel was detained as part of a pre-trial investigation. At present, Chorny is preparing a suspicion of a violation of the fire safety requirements at the hotel. At the moment, he will be suspected of violating the fire safety requirements at the hotel, resulting in deaths,” the prosecutor’s office said.
On the night of August 17, a fire broke out in the Tokyo Star Hotel. At first, 8 deaths were reported. Ten more people were hospitalized.
The police opened the proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 270 (violation of fire safety requirements established by law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.”
