The British research group Forensic Architecture has released new evidence of Russia’s involvement in the Donbas war, including the fighting in Ilovaysk in August 2014. They include numerous satellite images of Russian armed car columns on the territory of Ukraine and T-72B3 tanks – a new model that was used only by Russian military personnel at the time of the fighting.
According to The Guardian, new evidence will be used to support lawsuits against the Russian Federation.
“Since Russia denies any involvement in the Donbas war, establishing Moscow’s responsibility is undoubtedly crucial to court cases,” the newspaper said. The authors of the study say that the evidence will be added to the case before the European Court of Human Rights and made public on a publicly available online platform.
