The film of Ukrainian Crimean Tatar director Nariman Aliev Homeward was nominated by Ukraine this year for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, Ukrainian Oscar Committee reports on its Facebook page.

The feature film Evge/Homeward is a film about Crimean Tatar Mustafa (performed Ahtem Seytablayev) whose eldest son was killed during the Ukrainian-Russian war, so the man goes with his youngest son to the annexed Crimea to bury him.

The premiere of the film occurred on May 22 at the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival, where he participated in the Un certain regard competition program. The film will be on the big screen on November 7.
