President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This was reported at the President’s Office.
“The Heads of State discussed the results of the Group of Seven summit in Biarritz. The President of Ukraine thanked for the consistent position of Germany on the impossibility of returning Russia to the Seven in the conditions of aggression against Ukraine and occupation of the Crimea. Volodymyr Zelensky informed about the security situation in the east of Ukraine, in particular, the implementation of the agreements on the deployment of forces and means in the area of the village of Luhanska by the Ukrainian side,” the message reads.
Zelensky assured Angela Merkel that Ukraine has consistently fulfilled its commitments to a peaceful settlement in the Donbas.
“The President of Ukraine called for an urgent meeting of the leaders of the countries of the Norman Four to discuss the peace process and agree on further steps to resolve the conflict,” the OP said.
The President’s office noted that Merkel agreed with the need for a meeting. It was agreed on a preparatory meeting of diplomatic advisers to the heads of state and government on September 2 this year.
