The new government is preparing for tripartite talks between Ukraine, Russia and the EU on the conclusion of a new contract for the transit of Russian gas to Europe. The government plans to make this contract a long-term one. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk has informed about it.
“Of course, we need to achieve a long-term transit contract. We need to work hard for that,” the Prime Minister said.
According to him, the formation of the Ukrainian side’s position in the forthcoming round of trilateral talks is ongoing, so he has declined to comment on the matter.
Honcharuk also said that it is necessary to complete the issue of Naftogaz’s bundling (separation of the company and its separation from GTS) in the coming weeks. It should be noted that this is one of the EU requirements for Ukraine and a necessary prerequisite for concluding a new transit contract.
