The Ukrainian Diaspora calls on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to introduce electronic voting for Ukrainians abroad and to provide them with multiple citizenship opportunities.
Other requirements include “respecting the constitutional right of citizens of Ukraine to be elected and have their representatives in state bodies” and ” to create a program for the return of migrants”.
Diaspora representatives also urged Zelensky to meet with citizens of Ukraine living in Poland and other countries and to create a full-time advisor position on foreign Ukrainians and migration policy under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“We, representatives of Ukrainian organizations abroad, are deeply concerned that your official visit to Poland, which will take place on August 31 – September 1, 2019, does not envisage a meeting with the Ukrainian community… We are deeply saddened by the fact that the President of Ukraine ignores the greatest in the world Ukrainian community. We consider it as a manifestation of the neglect of interests of more than 20% of Ukrainian citizens living abroad,” the appeal reads.
The appeal was signed by representatives of Ukrainian organizations in Poland, Canada, USA, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Egypt, India, Australia, Switzerland, Greece, Germany, France, Lithuania, Malaysia, Brazil, Jordan, Austria, Moldova, Denmark and Latvia.
