The first week of September came to Ukraine with red-sided apples, yellow pears, fiery marigolds, luxurious purple eggplants, rufous chestnuts, red viburnum and mountain ash, striped watermelons and incredibly delicate pink peaches.
This autumn palette can be widened to infinity. One can observe such a motley ocean of flowers and shades only in the early autumn, during the early Indian summer. This is a real paradise for artists and photographers, peace of mind for poetic natures, a lot of work for not lazy citizens; schoolchildren and students can still walk after study, and forecasters, as always, should pay especially careful attention to the nearest atmospheric processes. After all, it is September that declares the transition from summer meteorological phenomena to typical autumnal.
And namely, in September, there are also summer showers with squalls and hail, fogs with haze, abut the first frosts already occur. Therefore, I offer for your attention a few long-term typical signs of the Ukrainian September. September, of course, is a transitional month from summer to autumn. There is a general decrease in temperature, thunderstorm activity is noticeably weakening, such typical summer phenomena as showers, hail and squalls are attenuating.
During September in Ukraine, in addition to the southern coast of Crimea, the average daily air temperature goes over +15 degrees downward. The average monthly air temperature is +12 +19 degrees. The absolute maximum temperature is +30 +39 degrees. The absolute minimum is 0-8 degrees below zero.
The frost in the air is most likely in the first decade in the north: Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, and sometimes in Cherkasy, Poltava and Kirovograd regions. In mountainous regions, in the rest of the territory of Ukraine, frosts occur in the second and third decades of September. The average monthly rainfall is 27-60 mm.
Now let’s see what the end of the first week of the new September will be like. The synoptic situation, with a complete anticyclone reign, ends. The weather of a significant part of Ukraine will be determined by atmospheric fronts. Therefore, in the western, northern regions, in most of the central part, periodic rains will take place, the thunderstorms are possible in places.
The temperature will be lower due to precipitation. In the daytime, the thermometer bars will fluctuate within +20 +25 degrees. In western Ukraine, a short-term decrease to +18 +22 degrees is possible. However, east and south still predominantly belong to a dry and warm air mass. In these regions it will still be very warm up to the heat; it is assumed +26 +32 degrees.
In Kyiv, the weather is expected to be unstable, variable till the end of the week and at the beginning of the next week. Short rains will periodically alternate with sunny clearings. Thunderstorms are possible during precipitation.
The air temperature in the capital will fluctuate during the day from +24 to +27 degrees. The cooling is expected closer to the end of the week.
Of course, we love summer. However, the autumn incredible beauty and generosity can leave nobody indifferent. Especially, during the early Indian summer.
